A FEW WORDS ABOUT TANTA’S TABLE AND ME

Hi, my name is Marilyn Henley, aka Tanta. Tanta is aunt in Norwegian, and therefore, many in our family call me Tanta. My husband, Bob, and I live in Southern California, with our dog, Buddy. Within the last 3 years, Bob and I have both taken up golfing. Bob is much better than me, but I also lost the last year because of a broken hand and lots of physical therapy. I am now ready to get back into it, but I feel like it will be starting over. As they say, it’s never too late!

I am also involved my our great niece’s foundation, Jessie Rees Foundation. So between cooking, baking, golfing and the Foundation, we have a busy household. Oh, did I mention that we also have a construction company and a property management company? I am of the thinking that busy is better. But for the purpose of this website, I will be concentrating on food, so WELCOME to my table.

I grew up in the Midwest and am a true “Famer’s Daughter.” What a great way to grow up with nature, animals, fresh fruits and vegetables, a brother who always made me be the “tackled” one when we played football, neighbors, friends, family, bunches of cousins,  conversation and lots and lots of food. Back in the day, the farmers would all help each other, so the women always did their best to cook the finest meals around. My Mother was known for her cooking and baking, so I had the best teacher! I still use a lot of my Mother’s techniques today, and still cook a bit “OLD FASHIONED.”
