APPLE CRISP – SO EASY!

Who doesn’t love an Apple Crisp?

Who doesn’t love an Apple Crisp? It’s perfect for summer or perfect for fall. It’s that one dessert that never disappoints. I love the tartness of the apples and the crunch of the oatmeal/flour/butter mixture on top. Great with ice cream or as a stand-alone mouth watering dessert.

Since I grew up in the Midwest on a farm, apples were plentiful. We would pick them fresh off the trees, give them to Mom, who magically would take them and make something delicious – whether it was an Apple Crisp, Apple Pie, Applesauce, and anything else you can imagine apple. The smell of apples cooking just simply makes a person’s mouth water in anticipation of eating.

This particular recipe is so simple and easy to make, but the results are so terrific that this will become one of your “go to” desserts.

Apples ready to be cut for apple crisp

Apple crisp topping

Apples sliced for apple crisp

Apple crisp ready for oven

Apple Crisp Baked

Ingredients

10 Golden Delicious apples (or you can use your choice of apples)

2 Tablespoons water

1 – 2 t Cinnamon

¾ Cup Sugar

¾ Cup Brown Sugar

1 ½ Cups Flour

½ Cup Oatmeal

1/8 Teaspoon Salt

1 Cup of Butter

Preparation

Pre-heat your oven to 350 degrees.

Peel and slice the apples. Place in a 9 x 13 baking dish. Sprinkle this with the water and cinnamon.

Combine the dry ingredients with the butter. Cut together until crumbly. Spread over the apples in the baking dish.

Bake for 1 hour.  Let it cool. This can be eaten warm or room temperature. And it’s even better the next day after it has been refrigerated overnight.
